I’m a frequent contributor to the Exeter Bulletin, the alumni magazine for Phillips Exeter Academy. I’ve written more than 750 articles for History.com, the award-winning website for the History Channel, on topics ranging from the lasting impact of Abraham Lincoln's Second Inaugural address to Albert Einstein's regrets about marriage (and his affair with a suspected Russian spy) to things you might not know about the women's suffrage movement—and everything in between.

I contributed extensively to the popular This Day in History feature, and have written scripts for short-form video features produced by A+E Digital Studios and articles for the lifestyle network FYI.tv about interfaith relationships and the history of lipstick, among other topics. I also wrote the text for World War I: Around the Globe, an interactive collaboration between HISTORY and Google Earth that tracked 10 key battles that took place around the world from 1914-18.

I’m the author of Breaking History: Vanished! America's Most Mysterious Kidnappings, Castaways, and the Forever Lost, a book that explores 16 fascinating disappearing acts that made headlines all around the world. These include some you've definitely heard of (Amelia Earhart, Jimmy Hoffa, D.B. Cooper) as well as some you might not have (Thai Silk King Jim Thompson, Judge Joseph Force Crater, and NYC socialite Dorothy Arnold).
